Captain Ahab, was the captain in the tale “Moby Dick”. Captain Ahab becaome more than zealous about finding and killing Moby Dick. Moby Dick the titles name sake was a whale that took captain Ahabs leg, and according to the captain, was the embodient of evil. I will try my best to not be a spoiler for the story if you have yet to read it be sure you do. Let me say this Ahabs zeal quickly becomes a burning passion and the fire is an unstoppable force in the story. So what about the pigeon?

Nasty animals pigeons right? Well “the thristy Pigeon” is one of Aseops fables.  it goes a little something like this

Pigeon, oppressed by excessive thirst, saw a goblet of water painted on a signboard. Not supposing it to be only a picture, she flew towards it with a loud whir and unwittingly dashed against the signboard, jarring herself terribly. Having broken her wings by the blow, she fell to the ground, and was caught by one of the bystanders.

the moral that this fable demonstrates is;   “zeal should not outrun discretion”.

It is important to be driven and focused. Some of us go through out life blowing in the breeze without direction without a goal, however when we become like Ahab or the pigeon the healthy passion can become an unhealthy obsession.

(these billboards look cool don’t they?)

Throughout the story captain Ahab had trouble sleeping. This is often one of the signs that ones passion is now an obsession. So how are you sleeping these days?
