Sunday morning the preacher turned to a familiar passage in the bible. It was the story of David and Goliath, and their battle in the valley of Elah.

I had assumed the preacher was going to go on with the standard “have faith” story, but he changed it up a little and spoke about things that happened before the battle to David.

One thing that really resonated with me that happened to David before his battle with Goliath was that he was insulted by his older brother. The preacher pointed out that immediately after being insulted David could have allowed that to ruin his day. I began to think about how often I have been insulted by someone early in the day and allowed the tone to be set for me by that person.

“No one can make you feel inferior without your consent” –Elenaor Rosevelt said it best. Allowing someone to make us feel inferior can ruin or day week sometime even year. Resentment has no place in a happy, content and productive person and resentment can only fester if it is feed. Someone today will say something that “rubs you the wrong way” we are people and we are different and we will offend often. The best advice is to remember Eleanor and not allow anyone to make us feel inferior. The day should start and end with you.
