I am sitting at my desk looking at one of the coolest birthday gifts I have ever received. The gift is a Star Trek the Next Generation Pez dispenser.  The dispenser is made to look like the chief engineering officer aboard the star ship Enterprise. The Star ship enterprise is a ship that flies through all parts of space on a mission to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before.

Of course each episode of Star Trek the next generation puts the crew in a perilous situation that is solved with innovation bravery and a little luck. I loved this show when I was growing up.

I mean they were shooting lasers in space man!  How could a kid not love that and using science they were able to solve almost every problem they encountered. Thinking back to how much I liked this show I am surprised I have not grown up to be a technocrat

Man kind has not created the enterprise yet but we have run into some problems that we were able as a society to solve using science as well as compassion for life. That is probably why I have not become a technocrat. Science can and will save us but only if it is applied with respect and compassion.

So here on starship earth education and compassion should always be the curriculum for our children it is after all what will save us all.
