John Bingham, is an American marathon runner, and author and he says that “If you run, you are a runner. It doesn’t matter how fast or how far. It doesn’t matter if today is your first day or if you’ve been running for twenty years. There is no test to pass, no license to earn, no membership card to get. You just run.”

Nike, says that if you have a body your an athlete.

When I was in high school I felt like all I needed was a diploma and then I would be an adult. When I was in college I thought with a degree I would join the working class. High school ended I got a diploma and although I was 18 I still acted a lot
Ike a child. Before getting my degree I was hired by a support company for a job in the career field I was going to school for.
Rites of passage and milestones are great ideas, but they do not make someone something. I am not sure exactly makes someone an adult. I guess being an adult is not an age or diploma but more a state of mind or actions. It can be tempting to chase after these social constructs like career and adulthood but the secret to life is to live.
To live remains an art which everyone must learn, and which no one can teach. ~Havelock Ellis
