“Those Who Sacrifice Liberty For Security Deserve Neither.” — Benjamin Franklin

Liberty.. The ability to have control over ones actions. To be able to do and say as we please. Because of were I was born geographically and chronologically, (not sure if I used that word right I mean to say, as part of this time in the continuum that is human existence) it can be easy to assume liberty is a birth right of every man, woman and child, however with a quick visit to, history books or the morning news, one will quickly realize, that this is not the case.

It seems that men, women and  organizations with bigger computers and weapons often take the liberties away from the men and women without these resources. Most recently in the news, here in the western world we have read and seen reports about the United States of America,  and the abduction of liberties through the employment of espionage over the internet.  The program leaked is called Prism. The program involves snooping and spying on basically everyone using the internet. Don’t take my word for it, read about Prism and Snowden on the news and over the internet.  The story about the whistle blower of the Prism project is one for spy novels, but the notion of having the Government without warrant spy on us is one that should have everyone up in arms! Although the story should illicit major ire, this is not necessarily the case.  There are many reasons this story is not having the impact it should but I implore all of the world to remember the words of Benjamin Franklin  “Those Who Sacrifice Liberty For Security Deserve Neither.”

The threat of terror should not have us surrendering the liberty and right of privacy. Liberty is an awesome treat but it is not free and has to be guarded in this instance it seems we should be guarding our Liberty from the US Government
