Me you us. “Did you hear them?” My girlfriend asked me that on Sunday afternoon. I was in the living room, I may have been reading or watching tv or both. I am not really sure what I was doing I just know in the room next to me there was a cacophony that seemed endless. Seven children in one dinning room will do that. Three were playing one board game, three were playing another and one was working on his homework. Yes he finished. So that is good. After the evening cleared and everyone had hit the showers and or bed, my girlfriend asked. I answered yes, because I did hear them. I heard them loud and clear.

She laughed about the conversations which took place in that dinning room. In that dinning room that night there were two 13 year olds one 15 year old, a 12 year old, one nine year old and two 8 year olds. The group dynamics of children is  incredible.  Listening to them speak you can hear it all. They are carving out there own identity and at the same time try hard to be accepted by the group.

As they get older you hope, that  they try not so hard to be accepted and try harder to do the right thing and be comfortable in their own skin.

Even as adults we can get caught up in looking for acceptance. I watched yesterday as many locals flocked to the polls to participate in democracy and vote on local politicians and referendums.   World politics can, and often unfortunately is,  a prime example of men women and policies that are completely wrong but accepted. I have always agreed with Mark Twain. Leo Tolstoy, George Bernard Shaw and Mussolini when it comes to the majority. But does this mean I am ready to abandon a democratic republic. Now not at all democracy is flawed but it is right now the best system there is. We cannot control the majority the minority or the dog. We can control very little. As a matter of fact the only “thing” we  can control is ourselves, and this is a full time job.   But it is possible through education we can learn. We can realize who we are, the difference between right and wrong and then through resolution we can makes sure that we do the right thing and always stay true to our self. When you think about it if I take care of me and my actions and you take care of you and your actions than we will be fine, well uneless you or I are evil in which case we are doomed, but see I don’t think  you are evil. I think you are fine. Maybe you don’t like who or were you are or what you are doing? Guess what you can change you can control all of that. If you don’t no one will.

Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.

Mark Twain

“Wrong does not cease to be wrong because the majority share in it.”

― Leo TolstoyA Confession

“The minority is sometimes right; the majority always wrong.”

-George Bernard Shaw
