What is at your core

I remember watching a movie with Bruce Willis. It was called “Last Man Standing”. Willis plays an amoral gun-slinger caught up in the middle of a gang war in an empty western town. There is a scene in the movie where Willis is caught and beat by one of the gangs. The actor does an inner monologue where he suggests that the only thing to do when in a fight like this one. A fight you cannot win. A fight that is less a fight and more a beating. The only thing you can do according to the actors inner monologue is, find your core and hold on tight. While your torturer does his worst to break you.

I have never been tortured, I hope I am never tortured but I have been in some situations where it has felt like torture (everyday at work right (kidding I love work)). On a serious note though there are times, many times, when we are at the mercy of some forces that can seem to be pretty malevolent. Whatever it is you are facing I would advise you to do like I do and take the advice of a movie. (funny right?) But no, true freedom can be attained through an inner journey first.

“I know but one freedom and that is the freedom of the mind.” ~Antoine de Saint-Exupery

Like mentioned before many of us will never be enslaved or tortured, but we will come up against some people who for some reason will want nothing more than to make us feel awful. I am not sure why, but this happens. The best thing to do is not let this happen.

“No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.”
― Eleanor Roosevelt

Do yourself a favor today and everyday. Get to know who you are at your core. You will find out that you are very special and unique and the freedom and power that is withing will truly surprise you.

When we don’t know ourselves or who we are at the core, we risk allowing someone to make us feel inferior and steal our freedom.

Oh yeah and always remember this no matter what else anyone says about you, You Rock!!
