What not to do….

Cool and calm steady and successful. Those are the adjectives I would use to describe the mentally strongest people I know. They have a sense of who they are and they do things that help others and themselves. We can ask what they do that makes them mentally strong but there was a very interesting article that focused on things that the mentally strong do not do.

The list hit on 13 things that are not done by mentally strong people. They were:

1. They Don’t Waste Time Feeling Sorry for Themselves

2. They Don’t Give Away Their Power

3. They Don’t Shy Away from Change

4. They Don’t Waste Energy on Things They Can’t Control

5. They Don’t Worry About Pleasing Everyone

6. They Don’t Fear Taking Calculated Risks

7. They Don’t Dwell on the Past

8. They Don’t Make the Same Mistakes Over and Over

9. They Don’t Resent Other People’s Success

10. They Don’t Give Up After the First Failure

11. They Don’t Fear Alone Time

12. They Don’t Feel the World Owes Them Anything

13. They Don’t Expect Immediate Results

All 13 of these warning are great! The article is incredible and I am not sure if you read the article or if you only read the list, but if you are like me at all you probably began to compare the list to your daily actions (you and I are so vain we think the list is about us).

I realized that I am a violator of number 4. I can’t control the speed of the car in front of me or the car beside me but I will let the fact that they are going 10 miles under the speed limit drive me insane! I really have to work on that.

I heard understanding and acknowledging is the first step on the way to recovery so there is hope. What do you need to work on?  Whatever it is you need to work on please remember lucky number 13, and take it easy on yourself.
