I read an article about, secrets for great speeches. I liked the article it was well written and went through the 7 secrets for great speeches. I like it when there is a list. A list makes life simple. Do this this and this and bam, you have a great speech. Now that is simple and there are times when you make all the right moves and a speech doesn’t work. Those are just the brakes sometimes.

As I read the article, I began to see a thread appearing in the list of seven secrets. The thread or the underlying part behind the secrets seemed to be one of connecting at the individual level and being kind. What is that you don’t believe me??

hold on…..

1. Talk About What Your Audience Wants You to Talk About

2. Refer to Audience Members by Name

3. Have a Sense of Humor

4. Be a Revolutionary: Do The Opposite of Everyone Else

5. Wrap Your Points in Relevant Stories

6. Open Your Heart

The only point that may not be part of that thread may be, number 4, but people like different. They notice different it is our uniqueness that is celebrated.

Life and speeches  seem to be pretty simple. Mom and dad may have been onto something when they said treat others the way you want to be treated.
