Do you believe in the soul?

Of a nation… I know you were thinking, no John is not getting religious is he, but I am not. I was listening to an interview with a man who wrote a book about Russia and he made and interesting comment about Russia and some who believe the nation has a soul and is basically doomed. The book is “Russians: The people behind the Power” and the author is Gregory Feifer. I have only read an excerpt from the book. It’s release date is 2-18-2014 and it sounds like a good one.

The comment about the author not believing in the soul of a nation really resonated  with me.  I think because, when he stated he didn’t believe in the nation having a soul he made nhis statement both positive and pragmatic. The lack of a soul makes it possible for the nation to not be fated for one outcome or another and places the future of the nation in the hands of it’s leaders and citizens. I am not sure but I may be a libertarian at heart??

Whatever I am politically doesn’t matter I agree with the author on this issue a nation does not have a soul and is not fated for one thing or another. “Every nation determines its own destiny; the clever the nation, the better the fate!”

The future of your nation is partly in your hands and this concept of being able to exercise some control of you and your nations destiny is coined by some psychologists as a “locus of control”. The control is unilateral in that we can effect our individual, family, nation and with the right attitude the worlds fate.
