In and out of your comfort ZOne

Structure, we all need it, whether we want it or not we need it. Having some structure to our routines helps us make and measure progress. With structure we can develop and execute plans and make progress. Without it things tend to never get completed and they fall apart.  Having structure means developing a routine  and can make us comfortable and while many entrepreneurs and successful business men and women swear by routines, there is not one among them that, will not remind us all that you have to sometimes get out of your comfort zone and break up your routine. But when?

If structure is so important and it develops routine and a comfort zine when should this be abandoned?  When should we break out of habits and routines that we know and love and tolerate?  Well, I am a believer in the idea that, there are no answers to questions, only more questions. So let me ask you this what is your routine for? Why do you do what you do? It is a tough question mostly because it is so wide open.

Let me try to answer the question. Let’s see, I run to loose weight, I work to pay the bills and get promoted, the list goes on and on and is different for all of us and our activities. So our routines help us get this stuff done. Our comfort zones are built by our routines.

I like to play chess. I am not that good but I am learning more and more by observing those who are that good and one thing I have noticed about all the good and great players is this. They do not ever make moves that are not in support of accomplishing their goals.  In a good game there are no wasted moves. So if life is like chess and our routines like our moves towards our golals I would sat that a good time to jump out of our routine is when out routines are not accomplishing our goals.
