Why does Mothers day matter?

Well, because moms matter an awful lot. She gave you life has and always will love you unconditionally and she is very very important. This year in the United States Mothers day is celebrated on Sunday May 11th. Do something special for your mom. Buy her some of the beautiful flowers in bloom, take her out to ear at the very least give her a call. If you cannot do any of these things because of circumstances beyond your control, tragedy of some kind. Remember your mother, and thank your lucky stars you had a mother. Without a mother none of us would be here and for most of us, excluding those, who lost their mothers early in life without a mother, we would not have lived long in this realm.

I am in the middle of a really good book. The book is called “Last Ape Standing: The Seven-Million Story of How and Why We Survived”  by Chip Walter. In the book Chip takes great pains to describe how helpless a human baby is after birth and mothers-day-poem-how dependent the human baby remains throughout childhood.  This dependency on others early on in our life is something unique to our species and has much to do with when we are born but it reinforces the importance of mothers and in turn the importance of Mothers day.

On Mothers day we show honor and give thanks to our Mothers. Don’t forget everyone May 11th is moms special day do something to make it great

And now I would like to end this post with a poem by one of my favorite poets

ee cummings

if there are any heavens my mother will(all by herself)have
one. It will not be a pansy heaven nor
a fragile heaven of lilies-of-the-valley but
it will be a heaven of blackred roses

my father will be(deep like a rose
tall like a rose)

standing near my
(swaying over her
with eyes which are really petals and see

nothing with the face of a poet really which
is a flower and not a face with
which whisper
This is my beloved my
(suddenly in sunlight

he will bow,

& the whole garden will bow)
