images (1)I went to an amazing place near Atlanta GA.  called Stone Mountain Park.   The park is 3200 acres of fun! At the center of the park there is the granite stone mountain, at 825 feet high, one can choose to ride a cab, suspended by wires or hike up to the top of the mountain.  This mountain can better be described as, a huge granite rock at the center of the park. No I mean it is hard to describe, this rock looks so out of place almost alien.

looking at the rock slash mountain, one cannot help but see the massive carving in the side of the mountain. The mountain has a carving of Stonewall Jackson, Robert E. Lee, and Jefferson Davis. Three of the leaders of the Confederate States of America. I know there is an immense pride that comes with the confederate states. I know about the pride but being raised in the north part of the continental United States of America I often wondered where the pride came from.

The only legacy I knew of Confederate States of America was one that was, a legacy not to be proud of. It was of course the legacy associated and defined by slavery. Seeing the pride I made it a point to learn as much as I could about the Confederate States of America.

Of all that I learned what I found to be most compelling was one of the men whose likeness is carved into the side of Stone Mountain.  Robert E. Lee. This man was impressive! A true gentleman, military genius, loyal to the end to his country state and family. A person who many would do well to model themselves after.

It is not a thing but I would like to start this as an internet meme.

by the way. This carving is the largest bas-relief in the world. If you ever get to Atlanta, visit Stone Mountain
