Routines are important

A routine is defined by websters dictionary as :a regular way of doing things in a particular order. That definitio sums it up really. We fall into daily routines and they become familiar and almost friendly then, life changes. Changes knock us out of our routines and off of our schedules.

The thing about change is that it happens. We cannot avoid change. Routines are good and helpful but they will change as well. I am currently experiencing a change in my life. Just this Monday I started a new job. The job brings new responsibilities and tasks as well as an a different schedule. The Job is great! (so far) The job has knocked me out of my routine and off of my schedule. The job and some other things going on in my life (tomorrows blog post maybe). My new schedule has forced me to adjust my routines and this post is being written at a different time and from a different location but, I am writing it, because I think it is important.

Writing is important. I googled writing is important and came up with this wonderful list about why writing is important.  The two ideas that really resonated with me from the list were:

  • Writing is portable and permanent. It makes your thinking visible.
  • Writing helps you move easily among facts, inferences, and opinions without getting confused—and without confusing your reader.

When you get the chance you should read through the list it is pretty neat stuff. I agree with the whole thing and because writing is so importnat I have adjusted my schedule in an effort to create a new routine. This is what we do when we know that something is important.
