First I have to say that it seems as though the world is going crazy. Now I type or say seems not for semantic reasons but in an effort to create an important, and what I feel, well-informed thought. The world merely SEEMS like it is going crazy because of recent headlines. The truth is that, the majority of the citizens of Earth are grounded and respectful of one another and their homes.  So, now you want to know what headlines I am refering too, right?

Well, even if the answer was no to the earlier question, I am going to tell you, the three headlines that make me feel as though the world SEEMS to be going crazy.

Not in any paticular order

Headline 1: “Paris Magazine Attack“, if you haven’t been living under a rock you have heard of the awful attack on A magazine office in Paris by now. Gun men attacked the office and killed 12 people simply because the magazine insulted the religion they particpate in.

Headline 2: “Blogger Flogged in Saudi Arabia for Crime of blasphemy.” Yeah that headline is happening right now in 2015. The Saudi Arabian government is giving a blogger 50 floggings over 20 weeks for insulting Islam. Wait, I said 3 right? Yeah I did here is the thrid and this one makes me sad and also makes it seem like we are living n crazy town.

Headline 3: “Pope Francis on Charlie Hebdo attack: ‘You can’t make fun of faith’” . All the headlines and stories that follow make me sad but this one truly hurts because here we have a guy I kind of respect, just saying some awful things. Pope Francis seemed progressive enough but any man who will not defend another man or womans right to speak freely with at the very least his public rethoric is just not good. That is what happened.

The pope went on to explain his comments with these words,

“It is true that you must not react violently, but although we are good friends if [he, and aide who works with the pope] says a curse word against my mother, he can expect a punch, it’s normal.”  The pope did mention that freedom of speech was a right but then said this, “You can’t provoke, you can’t insult the faith of others, you can’t make fun of faith.”.

I am sorry but it seems as though in this case the pope, who I have usually sided with has gone to far and seems to be participating in a bit of “doublespeak”. Although it is your right to have free speech you still cannot make fun of faith. I disagree with this whole heartedly. I have at other times in this blog quoted and supported Pope Francis but on this matter I cannot. Speaking your mind should happen even if others don’t want to read it in the magazine. If you do not want to read it in the magazine do not buy that magazine and if Pope Francis has an aide who insults his mother I would encourage the pope to be like Jesus and turn the other check and walk away instead of acting like a Jersey shore db (apologies to everyone from Jersey) and punching his aide in the face.

Today, I will exercise my right to free speech and quote a the opening text  from a movie called,

Opening text: Disclaimer: 1) a renunciation of any claim to or connection with; 2) disavowal; 3) a statement made to save one’s own ass. Though it’ll go without saying ten minutes or so into these proceedings, View Askew would like to state that this film is – from start to finish – a work of comedic fantasy, not to be taken seriously. To insist that any of what follows is incendiary or inflammatory is to miss our intention and pass undue judgment; and passing judgment is reserved for God and God alone (this goes for you film critics too…just kidding). So please – before you think about hurting someone over this trifle of a film, remember: even God has a sense of humor. Just look at the Platypus. Thank you and enjoy the show. P.S. We sincerely apologize to all Platypus enthusiasts out there who are offended by that thoughtless comment about the Platypi. We at View Askew respect the noble Platypus, and it is not our intention to slight these stupid creatures in any way. Thank you again and enjoy the show.”
