All water

Posted: April 30, 2015 in Uncategorized

all water makes its way, to the ocean. The biggest evidence that can be seen today of the ecology and lifecycle of water in the ocean is the high-level of micro plastics in the world oceans. That plastic did not originate in the ocean it was created on land by human beings. The ocean is where life began and the ocean is teeming with life. When human beings, participate in pollution to excess they poison the very spot on the planet where their origin is. I’m not really sure that irony but I do know it’s incredibly sad. John F Kennedy love the ocean he had one of the most memorable quotes about the ocean. “We are tied to the ocean. And, when we go back to the sea, wether it is  to sail or to watch – we are going back from whence we came.”

It is decadence and ignorance that, helps promote the destruction of our oceans. Human beings should be humble and educated. With humility, education, compassion and a little luck, there is nothing we cannot accomplish.

Can you hear me now? Yes!

“A riot, is the voice of the unheard” – Martin Luther King Junior. Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last three days, I am sure you have heard about the riots in the city of Baltimore Maryland. Most media outlets have taken pains, to describe the events leading up to the Baltimore Maryland riots. The events described by most media outlets, have been bag and murky and involve the death of an unarmed Black man in police custody. To say these events are the only ones, that have led up to the riots in Baltimore, seem a little unfair to the until now unheard of Baltimore. Well, I like Martin Luther King Junior, would never indoors riding I think to a certain degree I can understand where it comes from. It comes from almost a lifetime of being unrecognized and unheard, the only recognition received by many of the citizens of the city of Baltimore Maryland has been negative recognition by the police force in the city government itself. I kind of think, the riot is like the explosion that happens when a slow when a pressure cooker is covered and left unchecked. The pressure continues to build and build and the release comes in the form of an explosion. Now the nation is listening. I wonder what The citizens and those who represent the citizens of Baltimore will tell us. I hope for two things, one, is that the message from Baltimore be clear and concise. I want to know how long and exactly what has been happening to the citizens of the city of Baltimore. The second thing I hope for, Is that the nation will listen and take action to avoid this everywhere. The optimist in me believe this is exactly what will happen, the optimist in me also believes that respect for life is the action needs to be taken. The pragmatist in me, Believe this is exactly what will happen but it will take time. I guess I will wait and see.

Things that are infinite

Posted: April 28, 2015 in Uncategorized

The list for things that are infinite is pretty short. It seems like everything has a bottom or top. Human beings are rare animal in many ways, one thing I’ve always found fascinating about human beings and their ability to measure things. We measure everything the distance from a to B the amount of money we have. We measure the weight that our bodies are we even measure something as nonexistent as time with clocks and watches and schedules. This ability to measure when used correctly is a very powerful tool it is arguably one of the tools that has made human beings as successful a species as they have been in the history of the world, but when measurements are used incorrectly they can be a hinder. Take for example right now I am trying to think of what is infinite what cannot be measured and the only thing I can really think of is compassion. Compassion is eminent you will never run out of it if you acting up compassionate manner to help another living being you’ll never run out of energy or resources. For those who say you will run out of energy or resources when acting compassionately I would challenge them. Act compassionately do it so often and to such degree that you run out of resources and find the limit. It will not happen, it cannot happen, because if it does then that means man or human beings are not enough and I used to believe that compassion or the human beings ability to love others is not enough. I really think the Beatles are right when they said “all you need is love”

Why we tell stories

Posted: April 27, 2015 in Uncategorized

no, this is not going to be a post about the laurels of lying. I do not think there is never really a good reason to lie. Except maybe, we were tired and we’re going to sleep. Okay, that’s my last corny joke for this post. This post was actually inspired by the movie by Disney called into the woods. The movie is a remake of the musical by soddenhiem. Disney did a great job with into the woods. My girlfriend and I, watch the movie this weekend and we were both impressed. Of course it helps in the story is a really great one. In case you haven’t seen it in the ethical or movie form let me give you a brief synopsis. The story is about the interweaving of various fairytales and what happens after happily ever after with the fairytales. The movie and the play I both as realistic as they Can be. I say can be because, they are fairytales after all. Just understand this, happily ever after may not be the quintessential happily. So yes things do fall apart for all the protagonist. At the end of the play him movie one of the protagonist sit down in the woods with his son and asks to no one in particular what he should do. He is told by an apparition that he should tell the story of the protagonist to his son. That’s why we tell stories to pass on an r.  a legacy that will inspire and our children the will to go on in the hope to go on when I happily does not meet the expectations.

I love this idea because it gives stories and storytelling that much more importantance. I have always been a sucker for good storytelling. What’s your story?

No real heroes

Posted: April 24, 2015 in Uncategorized

This morning, on my way to work, I was listening to one of my favorite podcasts. The podcast was going through all the elements of a good story. Let me first say that, I realized there is a difference in a story in a paper. A paper even a narrative, tends to be complete with cognitive concept that build on each other to bring a reader to a point. A good story does not need to be complete. A good story can have a frayed type of ending as opposed to a bow or knot. A good story will leave the listener wanting more and some good stories have no real heroes. It was this no real heroes statement that immediately made me think about an old episode of the Big Bang theory. One of the characters on the Big Bang theory convinced his girlfriend to watch Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the lost Ark. After watching the movie the character asked his girlfriend what she thought of it, his girlfriend answered that the movie was a great story but the protagonist really affected the story in no way at all. The characters girlfriend goes on to mention how Indiana Jones did not change the outcome of the arc or the story. Let me be clear right now if you have any seen Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the lost art this is the spoiler alert… The girlfriend on the Big Bang theory tell her boyfriend that the Nazis in the movie despite Indiana Jones efforts still found the arc of the coming it open the Ark of the covenant and died at the hand of the god of the Hebrew people. The television show is funny because you can see the moment when the character realizes his girlfriend is right and the Indiana Jones really did not affect the story at all.

We like to think that heroes maintain balance in order in justice and maybe they do but in the case of Indiana Jones our hero did the right thing and yet still really didn’t affect the story and maybe that’s more realistic maybe we are all just along for the ride. In our lives we will make decisions that will affect our stories but, it seems very often that a lot of the things we do not have an immediate and direct effect I encourage you to take heart and know that as long as you do the right thing you going to be okay.

What part am I?

Posted: April 23, 2015 in Uncategorized

earlier I was listening to a radio program, on the radio program the host and guest were discussing the migrants traveling from north Africa to Europe. The guest mentioned how the migrant problem was getting bigger. The reason, Was that there was a growing instability on the continent of Africa. The guest went on to mention how many of the ships were being stopped and prosecution was being thought against the captain of the ship and some of the first mates but, this was only part of the problem. The bigger problem with the instability on the continent of Africa.

The guest use the words part of the problem. The words part of the problem really resonated with me I began to picture the captain and first mate of the ships. I began to wonder did they know that they were smuggling migrants to Europe and if they did who knew I felt like I was beginning to get lost in the weeds. Before going to far into the brush I begin to realize how important it is for individuals to, be aware of what they’re doing and why they’re doing it. We are part of something is it the problem? I certainly hope not I think it’s very important to understand what you’re doing and why you’re doing it because, You may find yourself to be a part of a problem and that is a problem. Hopefully we all find that we are part of the solution to the worlds problems and if were not the good news is that, we can be starting today

part of my journey to work every morning, takes me down a divided highway. Is it a divided highway? I mean there are five lanes of traffic. Two lanes heading north two lanes heading south and one lane in the middle that is as a colloquialism called the suicide lane, I think the correct term would be a turning lane. It was on this highway, that may be a dividing line or may not Be, that I saw in the center lane, which may or may not be a turning lane, a single solitary patch of grass.

Seeing that grass in the middle of a sea of concrete made me think of the Tupac Shakoor  Poem, “The rose that grew from the concrete”. This is a wonderful poem. For me this poem is a great example of what can happen when someone or something like a rose has resolved and hope. At the same time the pone sir they sense of hope for me. I may not have quite the struggle as many other people do, actually feel like, and I am very grateful for it, I live a semi charmed life. Even though, I live the semi charmed life, there are moments when I can feel a struggle. It is in the moments with the struggle and the moments on my way to work that I recall the words of this Tupac Shakoor piece of work. Recalling the words usually does a job and help me get in the right mind. My wish is that this pome will do the same for you today. Thank you Tupac Shakoor our IP.

Did you hear about the rose that grew
from a crack in the concrete?
Proving nature’s law is wrong it
learned to walk with out having feet.
Funny it seems, but by keeping it’s dreams,
it learned to breathe fresh air.
Long live the rose that grew from concrete
when no one else ever cared.
