So, what are you going to do about it

I grew up riding a bus to school. To take the bus me and all the other children in the neighborhood would, gather early in the morning at the school bus stop. When we were not pelting each other with snowballs, buckeyes or acorns, we were engaging in verbal and physical spats.  Often the physical altercations began as verbal ones. We would, one up each other in rude comments until one agent asked the other; “”So, what are you going to do about it?” The question, what are you going to do about it, was usually answered with a punch or kick or, if we had just finished watching WWE, a headlock. The altercations ended when, the school bus arrived or a parent came out from their house and threatened to call our parents.

I grew up and did very little fighting in high school, college or the army. I still have, what I guess can be considered verbal, spats mostly online with some of my peers concerning social issues. There “verbal” spats have almost all grown into the “So, what are you going to do about it” phase. Just today I went online and donated some money to help cure a social ill. I do not want to go into detail yet about the issue because in the near future I plan on making a big deal about it.

In the small town I work in there is a sign on a wall. The sign is a quote from John Weasley. The quote asks that the reader do good and I encourage you today, to continue to be upset about social ills but let that upset be replaced by good actions that in the smallest ways can do good.
