We are not cats

I am over half way through with the book, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. I was reading the book yesterday and came across, yet again, another amazing quote from the school leader Albus Dumbledore. “Curiosity is not a sin. But we should exercise caution with our curiosity”.  See? Amazing right?

I have heard it said before that, curiosity is what killed the cat. Usually I was given this idiom when I was caught somewhere that many felt I did not belong. Curiosity always got the best of me and as I grew my curiosity continued and still does get the best of me. I am the person who needs to know all of the equation. What, why and how for me are not things that cannot be answered. With enough time and effort I can tell you how and most likely do anything. Curiosity is a core value of mine, maybe this is why the line in this book resonated with me as much as it did. I am older now and sometimes I catch myself quelling the curiosity of the youth. I should take the approach of Albus Dumbledore and foster curiosity with caution.

We should never stop learning but if we do harm to ourselves we may stop learning this is why cautious curiosity is a great thing. Today do your best to be cautiously curios. learn something new and foster cautious curiosity within the youth.
