Happy New Year!!

Have you seen the movie, The Hunger Games?  In the movie The Hunger Games, a dystopian future is presented and in this dystiopian future the continent is ruled by a capital who, choose two children from each district to compete to the death in a hunger game every year. There are 12 districts so each 23 children are basically sentenced to death.  Before the children are sent into the hunger games arena to fight to their death the game maker gives them his blessing with the catchy phrase, “May the odds be ever in your favor”.

I hope you have made a list of new years resolutions, if you haven’t stop reading and go write down your resolutions for 2017. I know, I know, you never keep them but who cares? I mean see the children picked for the Hunger games have no choice they must play and guess what? 2017 is here you have no choice you must play. Since you have to play, why not go all in? I mean it why not dream big and make a really awesome list of stuff you, want, need and have to do? I made one and the list may seem lame to some but for me each entry represents milestones, priorities and accomplishments. I know that the odds are against me but see when I so crush this list I will feel that much better and so will you.

Happy New Year everyone!! If you did not make a list go make one and if you did, May the odds be ever in your favor

I know you have heard it already but let me tell you again. Happy New Year! Welcome to 2013! I hope you are as excited as I am about a new year. Have you made any resolutions? If not you should a new year is a great time to resolve to do things we haven’t but wanted and need to do. Resolutions will bring hope, but can also bring fear. We can become resolute but can feel that we lack the resources or knowledge needed to keep our resolutions. Fear not we can do amazing things. I remember a time magazine article I once read. The article, using layman terms, explains how the human brain has the amazing ability to repair itself. I am no scientist or doctor but it seems that the more we learn about the brain the more we realize how magnificent, man and woman kind is. If the brain can do that then I can’t help but think “If something is impossible then impossible is something possible therefor everything is possible.” — Unknown

Drumroll please…. Today is Thursday annnnd The first day of Winter annnnd The 200 post on the blog Impressed? I know it is not that big of a deal I mean winter comes every year and goes every year. Followed by spring, summer and fall.

Winter carries with it longer nights, shorter days and in many areas of the world a bitter cold and yet it is this time of the year that all types of celebrations are scheduled and festivities taken place. Why is that? Maybe because if we as humans can survive the winter we can celebrate this survival and know that despite the hardships and ups and downs of the new year everyone will be ok. When I think about winter and the end of the year and a new year approaching many images come to mind. Images of plants blooming animals awakening from slumber people shaking off the chill and getting ready to face a new year full of resolution for all their newly made resolutions (I know it’s lame).

Have you ever seen the movie “Defiance“?  The movie follows two Jewish brothers who escape the Nazi regime and build with other escapes a village in the woods. The movie is based on a true story and the move ends after the villagers survive through a year and the snow thaws. Despite this being the last scene of the movie the audience knows that the villagers will make it the ice has thawed the snow is clearing the sun is shinning and they will not only survive but thrive. This is our future after the ice has thawed and the snow has cleared there will be many exciting and new things to experience. Take this winter to rest relax and warm yourselves. The next year is going to be a trip.
